Akyeremade raises GH¢6,500 in aid of self-help projects
The chiefs and people of Akyeremade in the Bekwai Municipality realized an amount of GH¢6,500.00 at an annual fund-raising durbar held in aid of the implementation of the community’s five-year development programme.
Projects lined up under this are the construction of a clinic, market and a football park, extension of electricity to newly developed areas and refurbishment of school blocks and a community centre.
Mr Benjamin Boachie Duah, the Unit Committee Chairman, said each family is paying GH¢400.00 to finance the programme.
He said already they had finished with the construction of the football pitch and this cost GH¢6,200.00 to complete.
The funding came from Mr Patrick Adu-Gyamfi, Chief Executive of the Century Water Company, who in addition, has donated 20 electric poles, bulbs and electricity cables for the power extension.
He said they are determined to carry through with the projects within the set time frame.
