Government told to address mass cocoa spraying problem
Government has been called upon to address the problems associated with the mass cocoa spraying exercise swiftly to ensure that the country’s projection for cocoa production this year was not undermined.
Mr. Randy Nkrumah, District Manager of Duakwa Depot of the Cocoa Merchant, a licensed cocoa buying company in the country, made the statement at a meeting of cocoa farmers of the company in the Agona Area on Friday.
He appealed to the government to release insecticides for the mass spraying to farmers on time and also for them to have absolute control over the spraying process.
Mr. Nkrumah expressed concern about the inability of some cocoa farmers to have their farms sprayed, although they were infested with pests that destroy cocoa beans.
He asked the Cocoa farmers always seek technical advice from extension officers to increase production to guarantee prosperity.
