President Mills condemns murder of British investor
President John Evans Atta Mills on Thursday condemned the murder of Mr Andre Meyer, 49, a Zimbabwe born British investor, suspected to have been killed in a land-related dispute.
Mr Meyer in the company of his workers was shot by unknown assailants on returning from his farm at Juapong on Tuesday, March, April 3, 2012.
President Mills at a meeting with the chiefs and elders of the Volo Traditional Area, at Juapong, in the Volta Region, condemned the dastardly act, and promised that Government would do all that it took to bring the perpetrators to book.
President Mills was on a day’s working visit to the Volta Region, and used the visit to commiserate with friends, the chiefs and people on the loss of the investor.
The President underscored the contributions of investors to economic growth the world over, and said an investor must have a special reason choosing Ghana to invest over other countries.
“We all have to join the Government to seek and find out the killers,“ President Mills appealed, and added, ”Nobody came with land, nobody came with land, nobody came with anything.“
President Mills said God rather want the land to be developed for the present and future generations, and suggested that genuine agreements have to be entered into with investors for benefits that would accrue to both sides.
