Western Region registers 38,646 candidates for BECE
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has registered 38,646 candidates for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) slated to commence from Monday, April 16 to 23.
The candidates are made up of 17,369 females and 21,277 males respectively.
Mr Patrick Sumailar Wayoe, the Sekondi Controller for WAEC who is in charge of the Western Region told the GNA that there are 132 examination centres across the region, with 1,351 invigilators, 132 supervisors and 127 assistant supervisors.
Mr Wayoe admonished the candidates not to engage in any examination malpractice but rather prepare adequately for the examinations.
He said the examination is just an external one which would meet their standards and therefore there is no need to fear.
He entreated the various invigilators and supervisors engaged by the WAEC to be professional and avoid compromising the entire effort.
