Volta Region to get business advisory centre
A Business Advisory Centre is to be set up under the auspices of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council to promote the economic development of the region.
The center will be expected to build linkages with the related agencies of the Government, such as the Economic Planning Office, to facilitate business activities.
Mr Henry Ford Kamel, Volta Regional Minister, dropped the hint at a dinner in Ho on Saturday, to welcome a delegation from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Province of China, to the region.
He said the Centre will have the full complement of business development expertise.
Volta Region has a sister region relationship with the Ningxia Hui Province, crafted mainly by Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbome Fia of Asogli, under the patronage of a Volta Development Association.
Mr Kamel said the region had an array of natural resources including oil, huge agricultural potentials, and it could be developed into a hub of business activity.
He asked business people in the region to be innovative taking into consideration the area’s comparative advantage and work with the Chinese delegation, whose special interests were agriculture, health and education.
Mr Kamel lauded the Chinese for coming to the aid of Africa, especially Ghana at the time development assistance across the world was dwindling.
Members of the delegation were Liu Quingwu, Director of the Health Department, Lu Jianmin, Deputy Director, Finance Department, Huang Yimbo, Deputy Director, Foreign Affairs Office and Wang Wencheng, Head Doctor.
Togbe Afede, who had earlier met the delegation at his palace, said the Chinese Province had a lot in common with the region, in the area of agriculture and traditional medicine.
