Chinese delegation in Ghana for Volta-Ningxia sister-relationship programme
Two separate delegations on Health and Agriculture from Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the Peoples Republic of China are on reciprocal visits to the Volta Region under the Volta-Ningxia Sister-Relationship programme.
A five-member delegation of the Health Sector, led by Mr Huang Yunbo, a Director at the Foreign Affairs Office of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region includes Mr Lu Jianmin, a Director of the Finance Department of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Health Directors and Doctors have ended their three-day visit.
The six-member delegation of the Agriculture sector made up of officials and farm heads from Ningxia State Farm Administration (also named Ningxia Nongken Industry Company) are expected in the Volta Region on Thursday, April 26.
A statement issued by Volta Region Development Agency (VORDA) in Accra, on Monday, said the main purpose of the reciprocal visit was for the business community of Ningxia to explore the numerous investment potentials in the Region and form partnerships with indigenous business persons in developing sustainable and viable projects.
Under the initiative of Togbe Afede XIV, President of Volta Region House of Chiefs and the Volta Region Development Agency (VORDA), an MoU for a sister relationship was signed during a visit of a delegation from the Volta Region to China, Ningxia in September 2011 with the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the Peoples Republic of China and the subsequent signing of the protocols and final agreement in December 2011 in Ghana by both Regions.
“It is now followed up by the visit of two delegations on Health and Agriculture sectors from Ningxia to Ghana, Volta Region within the next seven days,” it added.
The agreement between the two Regions states that both Regions shall carry out exchanges and cooperate in the areas of economy, trade, agriculture, fishery industry, mining industry, Chinese traditional medicine, tourism, science and technology and health to promote common prosperity and development.
Secondly, there will be regular contacts between the leaders and relevant departments of the two sides to facilitate consultations on the exchanges and co-operation as well as matters of common concern.
The health delegation was received by, Togbe Afede XIV, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Mr Henry Ford Kamel, Volta Regional Minister, MPs and DCEs of the Region.
Others were, Heads of Departments, Members of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and Board Members of VORDA, Nana Soglo Alloh IV, Vice President of Volta Region House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, Paramount Chief of Anfoega, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, Paramount Chief of Krachi, Togbe Patamia Dzekley VII, Paramount Chief of Battor, Togbi Kporku III, Dufia of Alakple, Mamaga Akosua, the Ngoyifiaga of Sasadu Traditional Areas and Appiah Danquah Kufuor.
With the opening up of the Eastern Corridor, establishment of the University of Allied and Health Sciences, promotion of trade and investment sector in the Region, the mood of the Region was aptly summed up by Mr Appiah-Danquah Kufuor , a Board Member of VORDA when he said “All Ghanaian entrepreneurs must get on board the Volta Economic Train”.
The statement said the delegation visited several places in the Volta Region to get a first hand idea about investment opportunities.
