Ghana News Agency loses Northern Regional Manager
The Northern Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency, Mr Salifu Amankwa, has been confirmed dead at the Tamale Reaching Hospital on Saturday morning.
He fell unconscious in the process of bathing on Friday afternoon and was rushed to the hospital where he was being treated of lobo pneumonia and diabetes and at the hospital he passed away.
Mr Amankwa who left behind a wife and siblings had been battling with diabetes for some years now but was equally dedicated and committed to the noble profession as he rose from the position of a reporter to Senior Editor while at the same time being Regional Manager of the Northern Region.
Affectionately called ‘Honourable’, by colleagues in the region, they described him as very humble and a nice fellow whose sudden demise was very unfortunate.
The 53 year-old Mr Amankwa who hails from Daboya in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region joined the GNA after completing the Ghana Institute of Journalism and has held several positions in the Agency.
His body has since been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue awaiting the funeral arrangements which would be announced later.
