Kotoko beat Bechem United 4-3
Premier League leaders, Kumasi Asante Kotoko inflicted a 4-3 defeat over visiting Bechem United in their 28th Glo premiership encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
Bechem United was the first to draw blood from the Porcupine Warriors in the 5th minute through hat trick scorer, Reginald Asante who shot into the yawning net from a defensive blunder by the Kotoko defence.
Kotoko accepted the challenge and mounted series of attacks on the visitors and equalized through Ahmed Toure who connected home an in-swinger from Augustine Okra in the 12th minute.
Toure made it 2-1 for Kotoko in the 17th minute with a long-range shot which hit the cross-bar and deflected into the net which caught goalkeeper Maxwell Fiifi Eshun pants down.
Bechem United who seemed not perturbed organized themselves and worked hard to level up but with their image to protect, Kotoko worked hard to keep the attackers at bay.
The visitors came close to scoring in the 28th and 35th minutes respectively, but could not find the net as goalkeeper Amoako proved his mettle and made some perfect saves.
On resumption of the second half, Ahmed Toure increased the tally in the 55th minute when he ran through two defenders and tapped a long- range shot from Isaac Amoako to beat on-rushing goalkeeper Fiifi Eshun to it.
Bechem United raised their game and reduced the tally in the 58th minute through Asante in a goal mouth scramble and made it 3-3 in the 73th minute from the penalty spot which was taken by Asante after the ball had hit the hands of Kotoko’s defender Awal Mohammed in the box.
Daniel Nii Adjei however sealed the doom of the visitors with a goal scored in the 77th minute with a perfect shot.
Ahmed Toure was injured in the 87th minute in an attempt to score but had to endure the pain since Kotoko had by then exhausted their substitution list.
