US to release 2011 Country Human Rights Report on Ghana
The US government will release the 2011 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices on May 24, 2012, the State Department has said.
The report covers the status of human rights in countries around the world including Ghana. The report will show how the US examined the country’s human rights situation.
The report will be launched by the US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour Michael Posner at the Department of State Press Briefing Room.
The 2010 edition of the report on Ghana found out that there was corruption in all branches of government despite a law providing penalties for official corruption.
The report also indicated that the Ghana government did not implement the law effectively adding “some officials frequently engaged in corrupt practices.”
