Ghana Cycling Tour: Reigning champion Tetteh-Djangmah retains yellow jersey
Defending champions Henry Tetteh-Djangmah put in extra effort to retain the ultimate Yellow Jersey at the last stages of the 2012 National Cowbell Cycling Tour of Ghana.
Tetteh-Djangmah of Die Hard Club systematically accumulated the necessary points especially from the most tedious ninth stage route on the mountainous Mamfe area as well as the 10th stage around the Eastern-Coastal stretch to gather 48 seconds ahead of his closest rival, youngster Victor Cudjoe.
The reigning champion picked the ultimate Yellow Jersey and received the Best by Time award. Samuel Anim of Young Stars Club as usual took the Red and Green Jersey to pick the Best Fighter and Best by Point awards.
Cudjoe of All Stars took the White Jersey and took the Youngest by Time award with Die Hard Club grabbing the Blue Jersey for the Best Team award.
The first half of the 10th stage of the Tour, 75-kilometer route from Ada Junction-Kaase through Tefle, Sogakope, Lower Volta Bridge to Akatsi then to Dzodzi saw Emmanuel Sackey of All Stars Club coming first in the Stage Classification with a time of 1:40:03 seconds.
Aminu Mohammed Osman of Pacesetters Club of Tamale came second in a time of 1:40:04 seconds whilst Newton Coffie of Quick Step came third at 1:40:04 second.
The tedious second halve of the 90-kilometer of the 10th stage race from Denu through Agbozume, Afife, Abor, Akatsi to Ada was again won by the reigning champion, Tetteh-Djangmah, when he outpaced 58 riders in a time 2:34:24 seconds.
Consistent Anim of Young Stars Club took both the Red and Green Jersey to receive Best Fighter, Cudjoe of All Stars claimed the White Jersey and received the Youngest by time whilst Die Hard showing form to pick the Blue Jersey and the Best Team award.
John Zormelo of Quick Step Club came first in the stage classification followed by Anthony Boakye of River Park Club of Sunyani and All Stars’ Sackey placed third.
Sahnoon Mohamed, Festus Tetteh, Sales and Marketing Manager of Promasidor Ghana Limited as well as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sasu-Mensah, Director of Operations of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) presented cash trophies and Cowbell products to the winners.
The Cowbell Tour of Ghana is being organized by the Ghana Cycling Federation.
