Techimantia-Subriso road upgrade to cost GH¢6.9m
Dr. Louisa Hannah Bisiw, a Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, at the weekend cut the sod for the upgrading of the Techimantia-Subriso road at Techimantia in the Tano South District of Brong-Ahafo Region.
The 10-kilometre road, a portion of the Techimantia-Akomadan trunk road, is being financed by the government at the cost of about GH¢6.9 million.
Eugo Terrano Company Limited, a Tema-based construction firm, is executing the project which is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Mr. Bukaria Zakari Anaba, District Chief Executive, noted that the road when completed would reduce the drudgery associated with traveling from most parts of the District and Akomadan and its environs, linking to Techimantia and Kumasi.
It would also improve accessibility to market for farmers in the catchment area, he said and assured the assembly’s cooperation for the completion of the road.
Mr. Gershon Gilbert Agordo, Regional Maintenance Manager, Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), gave the assurance that all those whose farms might be affected by the construction that due compensation would be paid to them at the right time.
He said the economic importance of the road could not be over-emphasised and appealed to the farmers in the area to cooperate with the contractor.
Madam Eunice Ijeoma Aku Ogbugo, Chief Executive Officer, Eugo Terrano Company Limited, emphasised that looking at the urgency and importance of the road to the people, the company would deliver quality work and on time so as to bring relief to them.
She pleaded for continuous support from all stakeholders in the project.
In related development, Mr. Eric Opoku, Deputy Regional Minister has cut the sod for the construction of the Bechem town roads at Bechem, the District capital of Tano South.
The project is also being executed by Messrs B.K. Nsia Company Limited with two kilometres each access road out of the 15 kilometres in the town expected to be completed tarred by the end of the year.
