Nigeria suspends part-time university programmes
The National Universities Commission (NUC) of Nigeria has suspended all part-time programmes run by universities in that country.
The move was announced by the NUC Executive Secretary Prof. Julius Okojie on June 25, 2012, the Daily Trust reported.
Prof Okojie explained that the commission wanted to streamline part-time programmes such that it would accommodate not more than 20% of the students in universities.
Streamlining the programmes, according to officials will also help stop the establishment of satellite campuses, the publication reported.
