Eaton Towers signs 3-year deal with Eltek to supply power for base stations in Ghana, other countries

Africa-focused mobile tower co-location and services company, Eaton Towers has signed a three-year deal with Norwegian power firm, Eltek MEA DMCC, as its power partner.

The deal will enable the Norwegian company to supply power solutions and equipment to base stations run by Eaton Towers’ subsidiaries and partners in Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and South Africa.

“The contract will enable Eltek to provide DC power solutions and associated equipment to Eaton Towers subsidiaries and partners in Uganda, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa,” Eltek announced in a statement June 29, 2012.

Eltek says it will also provide power consultation and training to enable Eaton Towers to provide power solutions to operators who utilize the company’s services.

It added that the company will initially supply its Flatpack 2 HE power equipment but will also explore possible hybrid solar power systems deliveries to help further reduce operational costs.

“We look forward to enable Eaton to significantly reduce its operational costs by using our solutions,” said Bob Hurley, Regional Director for MEA in Eltek.

Eaton manages the towers in Ghana on-behalf of telecoms company Vodafone.
