Internet fibre project connecting Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso completed

An internet interconnectivity project which connects 120 km of fibre cable from Ghana through Togo and Burkina Faso has been completed and is expected to boost internet bandwidth in West Africa.

The project is known as the Bolgatanga – Cinkasse International Fibre Connectivity Project.

Vodafone Ghana, who is in charge of the project, today June 29, 2012 said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page that the project connects the fibre cable from Bolgatanga through Bawku to Cinkasse in Northern Togo and it will allow for the “free flow of the internet bandwidth in Ghana to the rest of the West African sub-region”.

The project began in November 2011 in collaboration with Vodafone Wholesale, a subsidiary of Vodafone Ghana, and the Ministry of Communications in Ghana.
