Tema Dev’t Corporation launches 60th anniversary celebration
Mr Emmanuel Oko Adjetey, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), has launched the 60th Anniversary celebration of the corporation.
He called on the staff to re-dedicate themselves to the course of the Corporation and help management achieve its set goals.
Mr Adjetey commended TDC for taking the lead in Real Estate Development of the country saying it was a success story and hence worth celebrating.
The Board Chairman said the theme for the occasion: “ Sixty Years in Real Estate Development: Celebrating Achievements and Re-shaping the Vision,” was apt, and hoped staff of the corporation would give of their best to help Management re-shape its vision, in order to take it to greater heights.
In a goodwill message, Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, lauded the founding fathers of TDC for their vision, foresight and sacrifices, and reminded Management that the anniversary theme was a wake-up call for them to endeavour to address some of the challenges facing the Corporation.
Mr Joe Abbey, Managing Director of TDC, observed that it had evolved over the years from being responsible for the construction, administration and maintenance of the Tema township, to its current role of planning, developing and managing the 63-square miles of land known as the Tema Acquisition Area.
Mr Abbey said in spite of its laudable achievements, TDC has had to grapple with a number of challenges, which he said, include the blatant disregard for land use laws, massive encroachments, numerous unauthorized developments and illegal land transactions.
He urged the staff of the Corporation to collectively work towards the realization of its vision of making of making the TDC the leader in the real estate development business by 2016.
Among dignitaries at the anniversary launch were Mr Emmanuel Adzei Anang, Member of the Council of State; Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Greater-Accra Regional Minister; Osongaa Nii Adjei Kraku the Second, Tema Mantse, Nii Tetteh Out the Second, Kpone Mantse; the Municipal Chief Executives for Ashaiman and Ledzokuku-Krowor respectively, Numo Addinortey Addison and Mr Daniel Amartey Mensah, and the Metropolitan and Municipal Directors of Education for Tema, Ashaiman and Ledzokuku-Krowor.
