Department of Urban Roads’ ultra modern office complex inaugurated
A GH¢546,402.09 ultra-modern office complex project for the Department of Urban Roads has been inaugurated at Techiman.
The 20-room facility, still under construction, will consist of a conference hall, material laboratory, spiral fire escape, mini-lab-aid, for physically challenged persons and a mechanized borehole.
Mr Frank Osei Sekyere, Techiman Municipal Urban Roads Engineer, disclosed this at the inauguration, which is being funded by government to help solve the accommodation problem facing the Department
He said the project was awarded two years ago to Abu Imam Enterprise through the Department of Urban Roads.
Mr Alex Kofi Kyeremeh, Municipal Chief Executive for Techiman, said the Assembly in collaboration with the Urban Roads Department was putting up mechanisms to check motorists against over-speeding.
The MCE said the NDC government it had made tremendous strides in creating speed-ramps and traffic lights at a cost of GH¢55,000 to check such traffic offences in the municipality.
The government has also identified challenges facing education, health, sanitation, amongst other sectors, hence the equal distribution of the national cake to all communities in the country, including Techiman Municipality, he said.
Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour, chief of Koase, in the Techiman Traditional Area, who presided, commended the Urban Roads Department and the Ministry of Finance for the project and called on people in the municipality to contribute their quota towards its early completion.
The Assembly also inaugurated a towing vehicle to enhance police patrol operations on the highways in the municipality to reduce accidents.
Additionally, a new 2,000 capacity fire tender for the Ghana National fire Service (GNFS) for Techiman was also inaugurated.
