USAID funds GH¢19.8m Nkoranza North education office
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is funding the construction of a single storey building estimated at GH¢19.8 million to serve as office accommodation for the Nkoranza North District Directorate of Ghana Education Service (GES).
The project comprised 16 offices, a conference hall, store rooms and places of convenience.
Dr. Felix Amoako, USAID-Ghana Director, announced on Wednesday at Busunya, headquarters of the District, during a sod-cutting ceremony of the project scheduled to be completed in 10 months.
He said the offices would also be furnished after completion. The project is among 35 selected deprived education districts across the country to benefit from the USAID-funded project with the aim to promote education in those areas.
Dr. Amoako urged the contractor not only to exhibit quality work, but also ensure its completion on schedule.
Mr. Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor, District Chief Executive (DCE), who cut the sod for the commencement of the project, commended USAID for funding it in support of the District Assembly’s efforts in developing the district.
He stated that the Assembly had also decided to construct a bungalow for the District Director of Education to avoid the situation where directors posted to the area were accommodated in rented houses.
He urged the contractor to engage the services of residents to serve as job opportunity for the unemployed youth of the area.
Mr. James Appiah-Kusi, District Director of Education, praised USAID for the provision of the facility, saying it would enhance education in the district.
