Gov’t urged to continue implementation of National Youth Policy
Delegates of youth organizations who attended the just ended Zonal Regional Youth Dialogue forum at Takoradi have called on the government to continue with the implementation of the National Youth Policy in order to involve the youth in national development.
Mr Emmanuel Assan, Western Regional Director of the National Youth Authority (NYA) said on Saturday in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Sekondi.
He said the delegates were of the opinion that the policy could help harness talents of the youth and bring them into the mainstream of the national development process.
Mr Assan said the delegates commended the NYA for taking the policy to the centre stage of national development and urged the private sector to support the government to implement the policy.
He said over 100 delegates of youth organizations from the Western, Central and Greater Accra regions as well as representatives of some political parties participated in the forum.
The forum was under the theme “Review of Youth Development in Ghana since the launch of the National Youth Policy: Consultations for further action.”
Mr Assan said the delegates discussed economic empowerment, human and technology development, culture, sports and National Orientation, which are among the 19 priority areas of the National Youth Policy.
