Kenya explores Ghana’s success in salary administration

The Government of Kenya through its Salaries and Remuneration Commission, has invited officials of Ghana’s Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) for consultative meeting in Nairobi from July 29.

A statement from the Public Affairs Department of FWSC, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, said the Kenyan government wanted to explore Ghana’s success in salary administration and share experiences and challenges.

According to a letter of invitation to FWSC, signed by Mrs G. A. Otieno, the Kenyan Commission’s Secretary, said: “The Kenyan Commission is in the process of developing and operationalising its structural framework, including policy, legislation and systems that would enable it effectively and efficiently undertake its mandate.”

The letter said to successfully undertake the functions, the Commission needed to have wider perspective of remuneration systems in the public services by benchmarking with countries and organisations with best practice.

It said the Kenya Commission had undertaken research on several African countries and found out that the Ghana’s FWSC had developed policies, legislation and systems that the Kenya Commission could benefit from.
