Ultra-modern clinic inaugurated at Abesim
A multi million Ghana cedi clinic with two modern state-of-the-art-theaters was at the weekend inaugurated at Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality to enhance quality healthcare delivery in the municipality.
The Rafchik clinic, a two storey facility, also has 35 beds of self contained wards including 10 pediatric wards fitted with all necessary facilities, modern incinerator for waste disposal and a 30-litre autoclave for sterilization.
Attached also to the facility is a supermarket and restaurant.
Dr. Timothy Letsa, Regional Director of Health Services was glad that the standard of health service delivery in the municipality and the region as a whole were being raised to a higher level.
He expressed the optimism that other private health providers would continue to come out with innovative ideas to attract and maintain clients.
Dr. Letsa emphasized that healthcare delivery was a shared responsibility between individuals, families and communities, as the primary producer/consumer of health and the service provider – government/quasi-government, mission, private, and the regulators all working in harmonious collaboration to build a healthier Ghana.
He stressed the need for the general public to adopt healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly, sleeping under mosquito nets, keeping their environment clean and avoiding risky behaviours such as excessive alcoholism.
The Regional Director also advised the public to report early to the healthcare provider whenever one felt unwell to avoid preventable complications.
He assured that the regional health directorate, in the spirit of collaboration, would permit all health service providers to register with the relevant regulatory body to access medicines and non-Medicare consumables from the regional medical stores.
In the same vein the directorate may assist private health facilities with pieces of clinical equipments as and when available especially in the area of HIV/AIDS management.
Mr. Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive expressed concern about health workers at the regional hospital in Sunyani, who continue to exhibit unprofessionalism in the course of their duties.
“The patient-staff relationship at the Out Patient Department unit of the hospital is not the best at all”, he stated.
Dr. Raphael Anto, Medical Director of the clinic said as part of Rafchik commitment to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs 4 and 5), which were to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health, the clinic intended to renovate its old premises to serve as a maternity wing.
To this end, an ambulance service will be introduced very soon to help better serve the needs of patients.
Dr. Anto appealed to the regional health directorate to support the clinic with midwives and other key health professionals to help take good care of expectant mothers and to support the zero tolerance of maternal mortality in the region.
