Kumasi holds non-denominational service for late President Mills

Hundreds of people from all walks of life on Tuesday gathered at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi for a non-denominational church service, organised by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, to observe  one week of the death of  President John Evans Atta Mills.

They included political party representatives, traditional rulers, civil servants, personnel of security services, market women and students.

The Reverend Dr Douglas O. Frempong, General Overseer of the Christian Outreach Ministries, led pastors to pray for the soul of the departed President.

Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, Regional Minister, said the deep sense of loss, concern and unity demonstrated by Ghanaians regardless of their political, ethnic or religious affiliations attested to the fact that the late President was indeed a man of peace and father for all.

He asked the people to avoid acts that could undermine national unity and development.

Residents of the Kumasi Metropolis, adorned in black and red colours continued to be gripped with grief and sorrow, and vehicles and buildings had been decorated with red flags.
