Ghana to hold National Swimming Open Championship August 11
The Ghana Swimming Association (GSA) will on Saturday, August 11, hold the “National Swimming Open Championship” at the University of Ghana Swimming Pool, Legon.
The event, which commences at 7:00 am is expected to serve as a platform for unearthing talents and raise awareness of competitive swimming in Ghana.
It will also serve as a justify-your-inclusion exercise to select representatives for the 11th African Seniors Swimming Championship to be held in Kenya in September.
According to information by William Kyei, General Secretary of the GSA to GNA Sports, prospective participants will compete in the 17 year and above age category, 15-16 years, 13-14 years, 10-12 years and 6-9 year age groups for Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle and Butterfly stroke for male and female swimmers.
It added that each swimmer must produce any of his/her Birth Certificate, Passport, National ID or Voters ID card for identification as a citizen of Ghana, and his/her date of birth.
The one-day Legon event is open to all swimmers and swimming clubs across the country.
Interested swimmers can register at the Swimming Association Secretariat at the Accra Sports Stadium, Tesano Sports Club or the University of Ghana Swimming Pool from now till the August 11, 2012.
