Catholic university teaching assistant dies in swimming pool
A 27- year old teaching assistant at the Catholic University College of Ghana at Fiapre near sunyani at the weekend met his untimely death when he got drowned in a swimming pool at Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, Superintendent Mr. Samuel Yankey, Sunyani Municipal Police Commander said the deceased, Master Theophilus Boamah on Sunday September 9 went to the pool side of Sheikina lodge, a hotel at Abesim with his friend Danka Grant to entertain themselves.
Superintendent Yankey narrated that, Boamah who was drunk, dived into the pool but did not show up after sometime.
He said after a while Grant also dived into the pool, only to find the deceased lying helplessly under it.
The Municipal Commander indicated Grant shouted for help and was assisted by people around to take the deceased to the Sunyani Municipal Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
He said autopsy report showed that the deceased, besides a deep cut on his head had taken in a lot of water.
Superintendent Yankey added the police did not suspect any foul play but were still investigating.
Meanwhile the body had been released to his relatives for burial, the Municipal Commander said.
