Ghanaian foward Clottey seals 3-year deal with Esperance

Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey on Wednesday signed a three-year deal with Tunisian giants, Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

Clottey, 25, penned the deal worth a reported 2.4 Million Dinars ($1.5 Million) after successfully passing a medical with the reigning African champions in Tunis according to the club’s official website.

Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that Clottey will join the ‘Reds and Gold’ in December to begin his career with the Tunisian giants.

Esperance is said to have beaten other suitors to the signature of the striker whose 12-goals in the ongoing CAF Champions League has earned him global attention.

“I have just signed a three year contract with Esperance and will be at the disposal of the team in the month of December.

“All I ask for is God’s guidance, love from my fans, team mates and the technical team. I pray God gives me an Injury free season,” Clottey said.

The deal is reportedly the highest for a player moving outside the shores of Ghana after Saudi Arabian club, Al Ittihad, paid $1 millionfor Prince Tagoe in 2006.

Clottey is expected to serve as a replacement for talented playmaker Youssef Msakni, who will join Qatari side Lekhwiya next January.

The deal will be third for the former Premier League goalking outside the country after stints with Wacker Innsbruck (Austria) and OB Odense (Denmark) in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

Meanwhile, Esperance have also signed Nigerian forward Izu Azuka from Sunshine Stars on a three and half year deal. Like Clottey, Azuka will join his new teammates next December.
