345 beneficiaries of YESDEC undergo management training
The Youth Enterprises and Skills Development Centre (YESDEC), on Thursday organized a one-day management training programme for 345 beneficiaries of the centre’s skills and enterprises development programme at Takoradi.
The beneficiaries, who were drawn from the Takoradi and Effia-Kwesimintsim sub-metropolitan areas, had already acquired skills in barbering, hairdressing, dressmaking and liquid soap making.
The National Board for Small-Scale Industries (NBSSI) facilitated the training programme.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Eric Kofi Hope, Regional Coordinator of YESDEC, said the management training was to equip the participants with relevant skills to successfully manage their businesses.
He said lack of managerial skills has been identified as one of the factors accounting for the failure of small businesses established by beneficiaries under various youth employment and poverty reduction programmes.
Mr. Hope said in view of this, beneficiaries of the centre who do not undergo management training would not be presented with start-up tools and equipment to establish their own businesses.
