Six suspects escape from cells at Bibiani
Six inmates allegedly escaped from lawful custody at the Bibiani Police Station cells after they had managed to open the cell lock with a master key on Saturday.
Two of the suspects, identified by the police as Yaw Samuel and Simon Yankey, were, however, re-arrested, while the remaining four are still at large.
Those on the run have been identified as Daniel Grumah, Kwame Sah, Famous Amudzie and Isaac Amankwa.
Two of the escapees were said to be on remand for charges of murder, while the other four were on charges of stealing. Sah and Amankwa were said to be the murder suspects.
At the time of the escape, there were 19 suspects in custody, six of whom escaped.
The Bibiani District Police Commander, Superintendent Francis Annor Kanga, told Graphic.com.gh that how the inmates managed to open the cells was still a puzzle, since the keys to the cells were in the custody of the officers on duty.
He said the other inmates were helping the police in their investigations.
