Osei-Bioh wins Stanbic golf tourney
Michael Osei-Bioh of the Royal Golf Club, emerged winner of the one-day 18-holes Stanbic Invitational Golf Tournament held in Kumasi, with a net score of 70 to take home the beautiful trophy at stake.
P.Q. Amponsah took the second position on a count back of 72 score, with Kojo Kyei coming third, also on count back of 72.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, teed off the competition, which brought together 120 golfers across the country, made up of amateurs, ladies and youth.
The Asante King played alongside, Nana Bi Kusi-Appiah, the Omanhene of Manso-Nkwanta, Mr Kelvin Winfield, Head of Stanbic’s Business Banking and Mr Paul Amoateng-Mensah, a businessman.
Also on hand, to participate in the tournament was the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Madam Anima Wilson.
In the ladies event, Felicia Okyei-Gyeabour, won with a count back score of 74, with Constance Awuni coming second, whilst J. Donkor-Baah was third, with a net score of 74 and 75, respectively.
Nana Kofi Donkor-Baah scored a net of 36 to win the Youth Group ‘A’, event while David Suglo won the ultimate in the Youth Group ‘B’ with a net score of 26.
Oheneba Agyeman Tweneboana, the Hiahene, who performed the closing ceremony on behalf of the Asantehene praised the competitors for their sportsmanship and discipline and encouraged them to continue to train hard to win more competitions.
Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director of Stanbic, thanked the Asantehene who is also the Life Patron of the Royal Golf Club for accepting to grace the occasion.
He said it had always been the wish of the bank to be part of sports development in the country and presented a mower to the club.
Mr Kwasi Appiah, Captain of the Club, expressed appreciation to the bank for the support.
