Juaso Gov’t Hospital raises funds to construct emergency unit building
The Juaso Government Hospital on Wednesday mobilized GH¢11,509.00 at a fund-raising durbar in aid of the construction of an Accident and Emergency (A&E) unit.
The facility has become an urgent necessity, given the numerous road accident emergencies it has been handling because of its strategic location on the Kumasi-Accra highway.
Dr Kusi Agyemang, the Medical Superintendent, said “it is the first port of call for accident victims”, especially those that occur between the Yawkwei-Nnadieso stretch of the highway.
Within the last four years, he said, the hospital has had to attend to a total of 1,723 of such victims.
Dr Agyeman said it was to help provide quality and efficient care that the hospital’s Advisory Board had decided to put in place a modern and well equipped (A&E) unit.
The programme brought together prominent citizens from Juaso.
One of them, Odeneho Kwaku Kyeremateng, Chief Executive of Officer of Comet Properties, made a personal donation of GH¢2,000.00 and pledged to supply 200 bags of cement and roofing sheets for the project.
On completion the unit would have two wards, a theatre, monitors, stores and washrooms.
