EC urges security agencies to be professional in their work
Mr. Kofi Asante-Owusu, Bawku Municipal Electoral Commission Officer, at the weekend called on security officers in the Bawku municipality to be wary of deviant people in society and be professional in their duties during and after the December elections.
Mr. Asante-Owusu said most people may take their leniency to be their weakness and misconduct themselves to distract the election process.
He noted that if they perform their duties with much vigilance they would outwit people who have the intention to cause mayhem during the election in the area.
Mr. Asante-Owusu was speaking at the annual inter-security services root match organized by the security agencies through the principal streets in the municipality to create awareness on the need for peace and to assure the people of their safety.
He said the commission was committed to collaborating effectively with the security agencies to ensure a violent free election in the area.
He noted that the commission would continue to promote the relationship between the security and the commission in the country as they were partners in development.
Mr. Asante-Owusu called on the electorate to exercise their franchise with maturity in order not to jeopardize the peace being enjoyed in the country.
Heads of security agencies, who took part in the exercise, commended the people in the area for the peace they were enjoying, saying’ it was the surest way to bring development to their communities.
Mr Asante-Owusu later presented items including nonalcoholic beverages to the security agencies after the exercise to motivate them to perform their duties as expected.
