LESDEP, YESDEC programmes to be expanded
President John Dramani Mahama has said the Local Enterprises and Skills Development Progamme (LESDEP) and the Youth Enterprises and Skills Development center (YESDEC), a module model under the youth employment programme, would be expanded to provide more jobs for the youth.
He said after training, beneficiaries would be provided with the needed equipment to set up their own businesses in addition to start-up capital.
President Mahama also noted that as part of the NDC government commitment to creating more jobs, his government would come up with a stimulus package to provide long-term financing for thriving businesses.
Addressing students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on Tuesday, President Mahama said the aim was to enable business owners to expand their businesses and create more jobs for the youth.
He said most of the rich men in the world were entrepreneurs and therefore advised the students to aim at being self employed to enable them access such social intervention by government.
