More students in Brong-Ahafo Region receive government’s free rlg laptops
Ms Sherry Ayittey, Minister of Science, Environment and Technology has presented 977 laptops to some students in senior high schools (SHS) and tertiary institutions in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
They were from Catholic University College of Ghana at Fiapre, Nurses Training College in Sunyani, Atebubu College of Education and Sunyani Polytechnic.
Others were students from SHS, technical and vocational institutions in the Region who applied also benefited from the laptops which formed part of the Government’s Better Ghana Agenda.
Ms Ayittey explained that other students are expected to receive theirs by the close of the year.
She told the beneficiaries that the computers were not given to them for political gains but to help them acquire basic knowledge in Information Communication and Technology.
Mr Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive said government is determined to ensure that all students especially those in deprived communities benefit from the laptops.
He said this could be achieved if the National Democratic Congress is retained in power during Election 2012 and entreated the beneficiaries to vote for the party.
Mr Prosper Harrison Addo, Head, Legal and Corporate Affairs of rlg Communications emphasised that the company have the capacity distribute all the required computers.
He advised the beneficiaries to send the laptops to the rlg offices any time they develop faults for free repairs.
