Ghana’s Satellites, Starlets to know African opponents December 9
The national U-20 and U-17 team, will learn the identity of their opponents for next year’s continental championships when the draw is held on Sunday, December 9 in Cairo, Egypt.
The Black Satellites will participate at the African U-20 Championships in Algeria where as the juniors, Starlets will be in Morocco for the CAF U-17 Championship.
The Starlets sealed their place with a 5-3 aggregate win over their South African counterparts over the weekend.
Information gathered by GNA Sports from the headquarters of the continent’s soccer body, Confederation of African Football (CAF), indicates that the draw will be held on the sidelines of the meeting of the CAF Interclubs Committee.
The Satellites have qualified alongside Benin, Egypt, Gabon, Mali, DR Congo Nigeria and hosts Algeria for the championship fixed for 16-30 March, 2013.
On the otherhand, the Starlets will be drawn against Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Botswana, Tunisia, Gabon and hosts Morocco for the tournament scheduled for 13-27, April, 2013.
It is widely expected that draw for the 2013 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will also be held around the same time.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will represent the nation in the CAF Champions League and Edubiase, for the CAF Confederation Cup.
