Prof Nabila re-elected President of National House of Chiefs
Wulugu Naba, Pugansoa Naa Professor John S. Nabila, has been re-elected by the National House of Chiefs (NHC) as its President.
This was by acclamation as he was the sole candidate.
Awulae Atibrukusu II, Paramount Chief of the Lower Nzema Traditional Area, was also retained as the Vice President. He pulled 21 votes to beat his two other contestants, Togbe Afede, Awomefia of Asogli, who had 17 votes, and Osahene Kwaku Aterkyi II, Paramount Chief of Kukuom, seven votes.
The elections were supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Naa Prof Nabila said the peaceful and transparent manner of the elections by the chiefs should become a good example to the people as the nation goes to the polls on December 7.
All should accept to conduct themselves well to protect the country’s peace and security during and after the elections.
The Wulugu Naba was sworn-in together with the members of the reconstituted House, who would serve for four years, by Justice Robin Batu, the Supervising High Court Judge of Kumasi.
Mr Samuel Tetteh, the Ashanti Regional Director, re-affirmed the EC’s readiness to conduct free, fair and credible elections on December 7, and appealed to all stakeholders to play their part well.
