Liberia’s Johnson Sirleaf congratulates President Mahama
The Liberian president, Mrs Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has sent a message of congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama on his election as president in last Friday’s poll.
A letter to President Mahama released by the Office of the President on Wednesday said the success of the elections was yet another milestone in the consolidation of democracy in Ghana.
President Johnson Sirleaf wrote: “Your election reflects, we believe, the confidence your compatriots have in your demonstrated leadership skills and your ability to steer the ship of state through stormy weather and to steadily stay course.
“As you begin your new term of office, we pray that the Almighty God will continue to shower you with blessings, wisdom, courage and sustained good health for the onerous task ahead.”
She expressed the hope that the long and cordial relations between “our two countries and people” would be further cemented under President Mahama’s able leadership.
She assured President Mahama of Liberia’s cooperation in working together for the mutual benefit of the two countries and for the promotion of the objectives of the Charters of the Economic Community of West African Staes (ECOWAS), African Union and the United Nations.
