French national named World Bank’s Managing Director for Finance

world-bankThe World Bank Group has appointed Bertrand Badré, a French national as Managing Director for Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the bank announced December18, 2012.

Badré is currently the Group Chief Financial Officer at Société Générale.

According to the World Bank, his appointment will be effective March 1, 2013.

“Bertrand has deep management experience in some of the largest financial institutions in Europe, and he has a strong track record and sterling reputation,” said World Bank President Jim Yong Kim

As Group Managing Director for Finance and CFO, the World Bank said Badré will be responsible for all critical internal financial functions and the General Services Department. This includes the Bank’s finance operations (corporate finance and treasury), control functions (risk and controller), and global partnerships and concessional finance.

Badré is a graduate of HEC business school and of Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. He is a former student of ENA and also holds a Master’s degree in History from La Sorbonne.
