Ghana Parliament to debate €25.5m loan for local governments’ development plan
Parliament is set to debate a motion on a €25,500.000 loan agreement that would help finance the acquisition of equipment and machinery for all metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies as part of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development’s sectorial development plan.
The 5th Parliament, which is set for dissolution on the eve of January 6, 2012 is also to scrutinize the report of the joint Committee on Finance and Works and Housing containing a credit agreement between government and the Commonwealth Business Council Global Invest Limited for an amount of $67,975,264 for the construction of 1,008 housing unit for the military and police service.
Another report of the two committees containing a loan agreement between government and UniCredit Bank, Austria AG, for an amount of €8,000,000 to finance services for the enhancement of a nation-wide water network management of Ghana Water Compnay Limited is also expected to come before Parliament for scrutiny.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance is expected to lay a paper before parliament containing a loan agreement between the government and ING Bank N.V of Netherland for an amount €26,300,000 to finance additional works on the Kumasi Water Supply expansion project.
