90 persons die in motor crashes in Western Region
A total of 90 persons died and 416 were injured in motor accidents in the Western Region, last year 2012.
This involved 962 vehicles out of 897 motor crashes recorded by the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Police Service, according to crime statistics released by the Regional Crime Office to the Ghana News Agency in Sekondi.
The police prosecuted 191 cases in court, secured 28 convictions and there was three acquittals.
Currently, 160 cases are on trial, 535 under investigations and 141 closed, and fine of GH¢20, 704 were accrued to government chest.
