Anthony Annan’s injury not serious – Kwesi Appiah
Ghana’s trainer, Kwesi Appiah says Anthony Annan’s injury that forced him out of the international friendly with Egypt in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, is not as serious as earlier feared.
Annan picked a knock that forced Appiah, to replace him with Derek Boateng, mid-way into the game Ghana won 3-0 through goals from Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Richmond Boakye Yiadom and Asamoah Gyan.
Appiah said after the game that ‘the injury is not as serious as earlier feared. Annan, it appears did not land well from a challenge but information from the medical team suggest that the injury is not such a big deal. He should be up training in a matter of hours.”
Annan, named among the 23 players for the competition that laces Africa’s best 16 teams together will be making a fourth appearance at the biannual fiesta.
Ghana begin a search for a fifth elusive Nations Cup trophy that spans over three decades with a Group B opener against DR Congo, before completing the group stage with matches against Mali and Niger.
