Court fines farmer for destroying property
Michael Mbir, a farmer, was on Tuesday fined GH¢360.00 by a Magistrate’s Court in Cape Coast for assaulting his sister, Ms Aba Essuon, a trader, and causing damage to her kiosk.
He pleaded guilty and told the court that his act was influenced by alcohol as he was drunk.
He was also ordered to compensate his sister with an amount of GH¢500.00.
Sergeant Charles Effah told the court presided over by Ms Mercy Adei Kotei that Mbir lives with his sister in the same house at Kwaprow, a suburb of Cape Coast.
He said on Wednesday January 9 at about 16:00 hours, Mbir for no apparent reason attacked her whilst selling and caused damage to her small kiosk, a rubber container and assorted provisions valued at GH¢500.00.
He said the case was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast and Mbir was arrested.
