Ghana FA receives $2.1m from Glo Mobile
Telecommunications outfit Glo Mobile Ghana has presented a cheque for $2,106,250 to Ghana Football Association (GFA) as part of their sponsorship to the senior national team, the Black Stars and the national premier league.
The package was in fulfillment of the company’s contractual obligation to the GFA, as the sponsors of the Black Stars and the premier league.
Out of the total amount, $1.5 million will go to the Black Stars, with the remaining going to the 16 premier league clubs, following Glo’s status as headline sponsors of the league.
Fred Crenstil, Vice President of the GFA, expressed appreciation to the company for fulfilling their part of the contract.
“Indeed, this has come at a perfect time, because it will go a long way to motivate the Black Stars and also bring out the best in the premier league clubs when the league resumes.” Crentsil said.
He described the relationship between the FA and Glo Mobile as a fruitful one which has lasted for four years.
Welbeck Abra-Appiah, Chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB) promised Glo Mobile the needed mileage from the huge investments they have made in Ghana football.
John Vasikaran Head of Business, Glo Mobile Ghana expressed the hope that the payment would help the Black Stars achieve their aspiration of winning its fifth continental silverware in the 29th Africa Cup of Nations, in South Africa.
Officials of the GFA were presented with Blackberry cellular phones with unlimited talk time.
