Western Region did not record road crashes during holidays
Western Region did not record road crashes during the Christmas and the New Year period.
Superintendent Daniel Dzakah, Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic Transport Unit of Ghana Police Service said the feat was achieved mainly due to effective collaboration between the transport unions and the Police.
He said road safety management issues were the key issue for the Police and transport unions.
Superintendent Dzakah made this known at the first quarter’s stakeholders meeting of National Road Safety Commission in Takoradi on Thursday.
He said both day and night patrols on highways were mounted during the festive season which worked perfectly well in controlling road crashes.
The Regional Police Commander, Mr Ransford Ninson said in order to curb the rampant armed robbery attacks on long distance vehicles, transport unions could make a request for police escorts.
