Group advocates for modern heavy duty parking space
Members of the Tipper Truck Association in the Western Region are calling for a new parking space with amenities for drivers, mates and customers who patronise their services.
They said due to the nature of their business, non availability of designated truck parks with amenities was affecting smooth transaction of business by members.
Mr. Philip Odoom, Chairman of the Association, said at an advocacy meeting in Takoradi that the situation did not allow members to also invest in their business because of the difficulty for trucks to park appropriately.
Mr. Odoom said the findings of a study conducted by the Association recommended that the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipal Assembly should plan for an acceptable location for the establishment of a parking space.
Again Traditional Authorities should collaborate and agree on a location for the parking space and ensure the success of the project, to forestall a situation where members would lose businesses due to the lack of permanent structures.
Mr. Odoom appealed to the assembly, traditional authorities and urban roads to find a permanent solution to the problem.
