Kasoa STI cases rise to 745 in 2012

stethoscopeThe Kasoa Polyclinic has decided to create at least two CHIPs  zones in the sub district as part of efforts to improve health delivery, Mr George Y. Asante, Senior Physician Assistant, has said.

Speaking at the 2012 Annual Performance Review of the hospital at Awutu Beraku, he said total number Out Patient Department (OPD) visits reduced from 91,569 in 2011 to 80,610 in 2012 and that the records were from CHPS, private and other health facilities in the district.

The number of OPD visits by insured clients increased from 46,037 in 2011 to 51,977 in 2012. Deliveries in the district increased from 4,062 in 2011 to 5,448 in 2012 but did not elaborate.

Mr Asante said revenue on insured clients increased GH¢251,069.92 in 2011 to GH¢398,903.01 in 2012 while non-insured clients were GH¢220,708.40 in 2011 to GH¢309, 970.77 in 2012.

He said number of cases of Sexually Transmitted Infected (STI) moved from 651 in 2011 to 745 in 2012.

He mentioned lack of stationary Ambulance to refer patients and frequent power outages as some the challenges.
