Political party foot soldiers lock out staff of Tamale National Health Insurance Scheme

NHISSome irate men on Wednesday entered the Metro Office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), drove the staffs out of their offices and locked the doors with their own padlocks.

The irate youth, about eight of them and believed to be aggrieved foot soldiers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said they were protesting against the appointment of Mr Patrick Kwagbenu as the Metro Scheme Manager of the NHIS.

At the time of filing this report, some police and military personnel had been deployed to the scene whiles the perpetrators had vanished from the scene.

Alhaji Harruna Abdulai Friday, Tamale Metro Chief Executive who brief the media on the development, expressed surprise saying “I called the security when the security came, we called the young men but they refused to listen to us”.

He said the locks had been broken by the police who have been detailed to guard the place until peace and security returns.

Alhaji Friday said the security had picked details of those involved in the disturbances and would be dealt with in accordance to the law when arrested.
