Rotaractors clean Accra’s popular beach
It is the busiest and most popular beach in Ghana’s capital located behind two of the country’s highly-rated hotels off the coastal lines – the Labadi beach.
During public holidays and festive seasons, several thousands troop to the beach to have fun and relax. In fact it is the place of attraction on every holiday where musical performances and cultural drumming and dancing are often held.
Tourists, both foreign and local, also find time to enjoy themselves at the beach even on ordinary days.
In order to promote patronage of the beach by tourists and locals, the Rotaractors from Accra-South with the support of some sister clubs as well as Zoom Lion, a waste management company, undertook a sanitation exercise to clean the shores of Labadi beach.
The clean-up exercise began early morning of Saturday February 16, 2013 with about 80 persons in what Rotaract calls community service.
The reason for the exercise, according to the Club was to contribute its part towards having a clean coastal line.
It is the third time the club is organising a beach clean-up exercise with the help of First Capital Plus and the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
