Ghana’s public debt now 46.7% of GDP
Ghana’s total public debt stands at GH¢33.5 billion as at end of 2012, rising from the GH¢24 billion it recorded in 2011.
The 2012 public debt is 46.7% of gross domestic product (GDP) as against 2011’s 42.6%, the Bank of Ghana indicated.
According to the central bank, the stock of domestic debt was GH¢18.5 billion while external debt was $8 billion.
The year 2011 ended with Ghana recording a domestic debt of GH¢11.8 billion, and external debt of $7.8 billion.
