Ghanaian start-up SliceBiz takes home $10,000 Apps4Africa cash prize

Apps4AfricaSliceBiz, a Ghana-based start-up, was on February 20, 2013 named one of the three winners of the 2012 Apps4Africa competition funded by the US government and the World Bank.

SliceBiz is a disruptive crowdsourcing web and mobile investment platform providing alternative funding for start-ups.

Its main mission is to unlock a whole new funding market for startups to access finance by creating the framework that will make it easy and appealing for middle class Africans to invest small amounts of their disposable income into high-growth startups with proven potential to give high return on investment.

Founded by William Edem Senyo and Heather Cochran, the SliceBiz team takes home a $10,000 cash as its prize for winning the competition.

The other two winners were Prowork from Nigeria and Uganda’s Ffene.

The 2012 Apps4Africa focused on business and officials asked young tech developers to submit their business ideas aimed at solving local problems.
