Private schools plead for inclusion in GET Fund’s support

School FeedingThe Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS), has pleaded for the inclusion of its members in the beneficiary list of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund)-supported institutions.

Nana Kwadwo Kwakyie, the Association’s Second National Vice-President, said this would enable them to improve the infrastructure of their schools for quality education delivery.

They had over the years played and continued to play key role in the human resource development of the nation and it would not be out of place to give them some push by the government, he added.

He made the appeal at a durbar organized by the GNAPS in Kumasi to usher in its annual week celebration.

“Improving private schools’ participation in education to meet national aspirations”, was the theme.

More than 500 private schools in the Ashanti Region were on hand to participate in the celebration.

Nana Kwakyie highlighted the need to also extend to the private schools key interventions like the School Feeding Programme and Capitation Grant.

To lessen the financial burden on them, he asked for the posting of National Service Personnel to teach in their schools.

Mr. Agyei Forkuo, Ashanti Regional GNAPS Sports Organizer, said as part of the celebrations, the schools would engage in soccer competition, public debate and educational tours.
