Ghana to produce quarterly labour surveys to aid planning, policy
In order to help in planning and policy formulation, President John Mahama has announced that the country will soon be producing a quarterly labour survey data to inform the government in the areas of planning and policy formulation.
President Mahama made this known when he delivered his first State of the Nation address February 21, 2013 after he was sworn in January 7, 2013.
The labour survey will be put together by the Ghana Statistical Service and the Ministry of Employment and Labour.
“I have directed the Ministry of Employment and Labour to work with the Ghana Statistical Service to produce quarterly labour surveys to inform policy and planning,” President Mahama told parliamentarians.
These surveys, according to the President, are to create an accurate database of the unemployed among all categories of Ghanaian society and track these quarterly.
It will also ensure that new jobs are accurately recorded and tracked while making it possible to coordinate the various job-creation and employment initiatives, Mr Mahama added.
