Hess finds oil at Ghana’s Pecan North-1 well
US energy company Hess has encoutered oil at the Pecan North-1 well offshore Ghana, making its seventh oil and gas find in the country.
“The Pecan North-1 well, located approximately seven miles northeast of the Pecan-1 well, encountered approximately 40 feet of net oil pay in Turonian aged reservoir,” Hess announced in a statement February 28, 2013.
The Pecan North-1 well is located at the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points (DWCTP) block where Hess, the operator, holds 90% working interest with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation having the remaining 10%.
Hess says it is set to submit appraisal plans for the various discoveries to the Ghana government for approval on or before June 2, 2013.
